Stupid colloquialisms you shouldn't confuse your three year old with

Charlie: Why did you push the button, I was going to push the button.
Me: That's just the way things went down.
Charlie: What went down? The batteries?
Me: No, I mean that's just the way things happened. I pushed the button.
Charlie: What went down?
Me: Nothing. I didn't mean something actually went down. That's just something you say that means "Events happened."
Charlie: Did the batteries go down?
Me: Uh, no. The batteries didn't go down. I said, "That's the way things went down," as a hip way of saying that that's just what happened, that I pushed the button instead of you.
Charlie: Why did it go down? What went down? The batteries?
